Jamie Murphy delivers verdict on Rangers defeat v Hibernian
Rangers winger Jamie Murphy has admitted the Gers are “disappointed” at losing 2-1 to Hibs and revealed that he thought there was “only going to be one winner” after Sean Goss equalised for the Gers.
The Light Blues fell behind to John McGinn’s first-half opener but drew level when Goss’ free-kick flew past Ofir Marciano in the Hibs goal.
Minutes later James Tavernier gave away a penalty for a foul on Scott Allan which was duly converted before Neil Lennon’s side held on for the win.
Murphy admits the Gers got it wrong in the first-half and took to long to get their shape right after being caught out by how Lennon’s side were set-up.
“Disappointed. At home we shouldn’t lose. We’re very disappointed, when it got to 1-1, I thought there was only going to be one winner.” Murphy told RangersTV in a video shared by the club’s Twitter account.
“First-half their shape was different than we thought so we’ve got to adapt to that quicker and if we do that then I think we would have won the game.”
The result leaves the Gers six points behind second-placed Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership after playing one game fewer than the Dons.
Murty’s side are back in action on Tuesday night when they face Partick Thistle in the Scottish Premiership and Murty will be expecting some sort of reaction from his side after they missed the chance to close the gap to leaders Celtic after the Hoops also lost on Saturday.
Murphy has made four appearances for the Gers so far since his loan move from Brighton last month.
