Medical expert reveals ‘truth’ about ‘struggling’ Kemar Roofe amid Rangers latest
Rangers forward Kemar Roofe will be available to face Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday (18 May) – but the “truth” is he will likely not be able to perform at optimum levels.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Roofe, 29, has been unavailable since he sustained a knee injury in the 2-1 Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic last month (17 April).
The Jamaica international revealed via Instagram on Tuesday that he has travelled with the Rangers squad to Seville ahead of the Europa League final showdown.
But Dinnery explains that Roofe’s month-long absence may mean he will not be in peak condition for the clash at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
“He will have been out for over a month,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“If we look at his player profile, Roofe is expected to make short, sharp, quick movements. His small percentage decrease in output might be exacerbated further because of the type of role he plays.
“So the truth is that it is not ideal but his baseline levels of fitness should be fairly good. That sharpness, however, might be a little bit lacking.
“But it’s a Europa League final and the adrenaline will be pumping. If he has a 20 or 25-minute cameo, hopefully that adrenaline will be enough to carry him through when he’s struggling.”

Roofe has scored 16 times in 35 appearances this term.
Two of those goals have come in the historic Europa League campaign.
