Rangers transfer news: Sam Lammers set to be sold at ‘huge’ loss – sources

Rangers are set to sell on-loan striker Sam Lammers this summer but are likely to take a huge loss, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 March) that the Gers are ready to listen to offers for the 26-year-old in the off-season.

Lammers was loaned out to Eredivisie side FC Utrecht in January and scored the winner against NEC Nijmegen on Sunday (17 March).

He has now managed six goal contributions since moving and while his goalscoring exploits could boost his value, Rangers are unlikely to recoup the reported £3.5million fee they paid to sign him last summer (2023).

Rangers preparing for ‘huge’ Lammers loss this summer

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Ibrox club are preparing to take a “huge” loss on the Dutchman.

It is believed any proceeds from the sale of Lammers this summer will be reinvested into Philippe Clement’s squad.

Football Insider revealed last week (15 March) that Rangers will prioritise signing a new striker this summer even if Wolves loanee Fabio Silva joins permanently.

The Glasgow giants also have Cyril Dessers, Danilo and Kemar Roofe in their arsenal – with the former two brought to Ibrox alongside Lammers by former boss Michael Beale.

But Lammers managed just two goals and two assists in his first 31 appearances for Rangers and was shipped out by Clement in one of his first transfer dealings as Beale’s replacement.

His contract at Ibrox runs until May 2027.

In other news, Rangers will accept £15million offer for star man.
