Rangers TV pundit thrilled by ‘huge’ Ibrox financial reveal after £16m deal
Alan Hutton was thrilled to hear Rangers are in a position of financial strength thanks to Nathan Patterson’s move to Everton.
The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the deal, which could be worth up to £16million, would give the Light Blues sound footing to push on from.
As quoted by Sky Sports on Monday (14 January), managing director Stewart Robertson revealed the Glasgow giants are “likely to be in a profitable situation” this season thanks to Patterson’s big-money departure last month.

As revealed by Football Insider in January, Everton paid an initial £12million, rising to £16million in add-ons, for Patterson.
Hutton admitted it was “excellent” to hear the deal will keep the club on an “even keel”.
He suggested the next step would be to win the Premiership and qualify for the Champions League.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “£12million plus add-ons is huge money for a boy that has come through the academy. It’s excellent it’ll keep them going.
“I think the bigger picture is the Champions League, getting into that by winning the league.
“If you go back to previous players, who would have thought that it would have been Nathan Patterson. You think of Morelos, Kent, Kamara, these sort of guys.
“But Everton put their hand in their pocket and were willing to stump up a massive fee. So it’s good to hear that players are coming through and they’re demanding this sort of fee moving forward.
“It keeps the club on an even keel for the moment. Obviously, the bigger picture will be getting to the Champions League and winning the league.”

Back in November, Rangers announced an operating loss of £23.5million in their 2021 accounts.
That was an increase of £7.6million of loss from their 2020 accounts.
