Rangnick set to ‘unleash’ Man United academy graduates as Cavani exit ‘likely’ – pundit
The potential departure of Edinson Cavani in January could “unleash” Man United starlet Mason Greenwood, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 34-year-old could get “in the way” of Greenwood’s development.
According to the Daily Mail (20 December), superstar Cavani is a target for Barcelona in January as they search for a Sergio Aguero replacement.

However, the report claims Man United are keen to keep the veteran striker at Old Trafford.
Hutton suggested the Uruguay international is “likely” to leave and claimed an exit could provide opportunities for academy graduates Greenwood, 20, and Marcus Rashford, 24.
“If you’re Ralf Rangnick, then you want every possible option at your disposal,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“But also there are some brilliant young boys at Man United who are thriving at the moment – like Greenwood, for example. They won’t want to be stepping in the way of his development.
“The way Barcelona are at the moment, they’ll be looking for this kind of deal. There’ll only be a small fee involved, he’s still got the quality and he won’t command the wages he did maybe five or six years ago.
“It’s all about whether Rangnick sees him as a big part of that squad. I would suggest an exit is likely, but he’s certainly still got a lot to give, energy-wise.
“The likes of Greenwood and Rashford are just waiting to be unleashed at the moment. The manager will have enough options without Cavani, for me.”

Cavani’s Man United contract expires at the end of this season.
The striker has made just two starts this term.
