Raul Jimenez sends Fulham message after sensational Newcastle win

Raul Jimenez has sent Fulham fans a message after his role in their sensational comeback against Newcastle United on Saturday (1 February).

Fulham defeated the Magpies 2-1 at St. James’ Park despite initially going behind in the 37th minute courtesy of a Jacob Murphy goal.

Jimenez levelled the score up before Rodrigo Muniz scored an 82nd-minute winner to secure an important three points in Fulham’s quest to secure European football.

Marco Silva’s men climbed into ninth following that win and sit just a point behind Aston Villa above them and only five points behind fourth-placed Man City.

The victory was Fulham’s ninth of the season and saw them bounce back immediately from losing to Man United on Sunday (26 January).

The Londoners will now prepare for a Premier League break by facing Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday (8 February).

Jimenez took to social media to celebrate the win and the manner in which they were able to achieve it.

He said on Instagram, “What a team spirit, fighting till the end. Back home with 3pts and back to back away wins!”

The 33-year-old scored his ninth Premier League goal of the season against Newcastle after 24 appearances throughout the campaign.

Jimenez’s long-term Fulham future is up in the air though as he is out of contract at the end of the season.

The Mexico international is currently able to negotiate with foreign teams about a potential pre-contract agreement.
