‘Real examination’- Michael Owen predicts Everton v Chelsea
Michael Owen expects Chelsea to give Everton a “real examination” after the recent run of good form under Sam Allardyce.
In his predictions for BetVictor, the pundit backed the Blues to defeat the Toffees, citing the fact that they’ve already defeated them three times in 2017.
“This will be a real examination of the Blues’ recent improvement under Sam Allardyce,” revealed Owen.
“The Toffees have had their fair share of luck in recent games but 13 points out of their last five league games shows just how far this young Everton side have come in the last month or so.
“That said Chelsea have already beaten Everton three times in 2017 and scored ten times in their last three visits to Goodison.”
Under Allardyce, Everton have gone five games unbeaten across all competitions, winning four of them.
The only game Allardyce has failed to win as Toffees boss was against Liverpool at Anfield, where his side earned a 1-1 draw.
The improvement in form has seen Everton move to ninth in the table with 25 points, after spending time in the relegation zone this season.
However as Owen stated Chelsea have beaten Everton three times in 2017, with their last meeting being a 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge in the League Cup.
A win for Chelsea would see them move level on points with second place Manchester United, ahead of United playing Leicester City in the late kick-off on Saturday.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of a proven Premier League goalscorer.
