Reliable journalist: West Ham set for major defensive boost in clash v Liverpool
By Danny Wright
Arthur Masuaku is in contention to play in West Ham’s next game against Liverpool at the London Stadium on Sunday, according to a reliable journalist.
Injury expert Ben Dinnery reported on his personal Twitter account that the 23-year-old has “recovered from a foot injury which kept him out of the 1-0 win over Tottenham last weekend.”
Masuaku arrived from Greek giants Olympiakos last summer and has had his debut season in east London hampered by various injuries.
The former France Under-19 international returned from a four month-long spell on the sidelines in March and quickly became a favourite of the London Stadium faithful for his energetic style of play in the left-back position.
His return against Liverpool will prove to be a huge boost for the West Ham defence that kept three clean sheets in the four games leading up to the full-backs latest setback.
Masuaku was subbed off at half-time in the 0-0 draw with Stoke in April despite it seeming like he was really on top of his form.
Although he confirmed his own fitness on Twitter, the ex-Valenciennes full-back was completely left out of the Tottenham win with a foot injury.
Masuaku has made 15 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions this season, supplying one assist in the 3-1 loss to Manchester City in August while playing as a winger.
Liverpool will prove to be tricky visitors to east London on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that his side can make huge strides towards qualifying for the Champions League.
Slaven Bilic will have different plans for his side as they look to string together consecutive wins for the first time since January.
In other West Ham news, Bilic has ruled this player out of the Liverpool clash in what is surely going to be a huge blow to their chances.
