Reliable journalist: Wolves lining up potential move to bolster problem area
By Danny Wright
Wolves are weighing up a possible move for a new right wing-back, according to a reliable journalist.
Express and Star reporter Tim Spiers claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday that a move for a player in that position is a “a possibility”.
It is understood that the right wing-back area is a problem for new manager Nuno Espirito Santo as his only current option in the position is Matt Doherty while summer buy Phil Ofosu-Ayeh is injured.
Daily Mirror reporter James Nursey claimed on his personal Twitter account in June that Doherty’s future at Molineux is not guaranteed and that several Championship clubs are keeping tabs on him.
That means that Nuno could definitely be forced into strengthening the area and add to the eight signings that he has already made.
Ofosu-Ayeh moved to Molineux in a free transfer and has since been joined by Ruben Neves, Roderick Miranda, Barry Douglas, Ryan Bennett and John Ruddy while Ruben Vinagre and Willy Boly has signed on loan.
Football Insider Verdict
It would be hard to pick out who Wolves’ new additions at right-back could be, simply because their transfer activity this summer has been so unpredictable. Nuno replacing Paul Lambert as Molineux boss was a very surprising move and the arrivals of Neves and Boly have also added to the shock. Wolves will no doubt be promotion contenders next season and the right-back position does seem to be an issue for Nuno. Doherty could look to move away from the club if he isn’t guaranteed first-team football meaning that Wolves might not have a player fit to feature at the start of the Championship season.
In other Wolves news, this Premier League striker is being lined up by the West Midlands outfit.
