Report: Conte is a big fan of one Tottenham star (not Kane or Alli)

By Harvey Byrne

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is a “big fan” of Tottenham star full-back Danny Rose, according to a report.

The Daily Mail have claimed on their website that the Italian boss is attracted to the 27-year-old left-back as he looks to add to the homegrown quota at Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, it is also said that Rose is injured and he is not for sale, meaning any move for the Spurs man is unlikely.

Chelsea have let each of Nathaniel Chalobah, Nathan Ake and Dominic Solanke leave this summer, who all counted as homegrown for the London side.

Now, they are being linked with a number of English players and the Mail report names each of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ross Barkley ad Tom Davies respectively.

Conte has also talked about Tottenham star Harry Kane and former ace Kyle Walker this summer, admitting he would go to Kane if he wanted a striker, while also stating that Chelsea tried to buy Walker before his move to Manchester City.

Now, it would seem that Rose is also on the radar of the Premier League champions.

Football Insider verdict:

Usually it is the names of Kane and Dele Alli that are being linked with moves away from Tottenham, but there is no question that there are a number of other stars around the duo in the highly impressive Spurs team. One of those includes Rose and while a move is now unlikely the north London club must ensure that they never let the left-back move to close rivals Chelsea. Walker had his head turned by the cash-rich Manchester City earlier in the year and if Tottenham aren’t going to delve into the transfer market this summer they should move to increase the wages of a number of their star players with the Premier League money, despite only recently agreeing new deals.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs have been installed as favourites to sign this La Liga midfielder.
