Sky report details how Tottenham are Premier League overachievers
By Dominic Toner
A Sky Sports report has detailed how Tottenham are overachieving this season.
Sky Sports revealed how much each of the 20 Premier League sides have spent to assemble their squad, in correlation to the amount of points they have so far.
It revealed that Spurs ranked 12th in the list, with their £200million squad cost coming out at £2.7million per point.
Meanwhile, Manchester United top the list with an average of £7.9million spent for their squad per point and West Brom are bottom at just £1.5million per point.
Tottenham’s top of the table rivals are all in the top five, with Man City in second, Arsenal in third, Chelsea in fourth and Liverpool in fifth.
It makes Tottenham’s achievements in the Premier League even more impressive.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently second in the Premier League table and have recruited wisely during the past few seasons, with Dele Alli arriving for what now looks like a bargain £5million deal from MK Dons.
Meanwhile, star striker Harry Kane has emerged from the academy.
They did invest last summer as they looked to consolidate their position near the top-end of the table, with Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Moussa Sissoko arriving.
Spurs are looking to establish themselves as a heavyweight in English football and beating Chelsea to the Premier League title this season would be a massive statement, but they must overcome the four-point deficit.
Pochettino will hope he can continue to drive bargains and is also keen to develop youth players in the future.
In other Tottenham news, the club’s loan star was named player of the season.
