Report details when Tottenham could make first summer signing
By Derek Smithson
Tottenham will wait until 1 July before announcing any new signings, according to a report.
The Sun claim that London duo Spurs and Chelsea are yet to bring in any new players and will not do so until their new kit has been launched at the beginning of next month.
It is understood that the two Premier League clubs want all new signings to be holding up next season’s kit when they arrive to help increase sales of shirts.
Chelsea clinched the Premier League title last season under Antonio Conte, while Spurs finished as runners-up and provided the only serious competition.
However, neither pair have bolstered their squad yet and have watched rivals Manchester City bring in goalkeeper Ederson and playmaker Bernardo Silva.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have recruited £34million attacker Mohamed Salah and a number of other top flight sides have already begun brining in reinforcements to their squad.
Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to improve his current squad in the window and win his first piece of silverware at Spurs next season.
The north London club have been linked with a number of star names already, but are yet to edge closer to any potential deal.
Any new signings can look forward to playing a season at Wembley as Spurs temporarily use the national ground while their new stadium is developed.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Borussia Monchengladbach are lining up a move for the club’s 23-year-old.
