Report: Euro giants request loan move for Manchester United attacker
By Aramide Oladipo
Inter Milan are interested in signing Manchester United winger Anthony Martial on loan this summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the Italian giants have contacted the Premier League side about the possibility of bringing the 21-year-old to the San Siro next season.
The newspaper claims that the Frenchman’s departure could open the door for winger for Ivan Perisic to move to Old Trafford as the Serie A side are looking to find a solution with United.
The report claims that the Croatian is desperate to secure a move to United this summer but the Premier League side are not willing to match the asking price of £45million.
It is said that Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are also interested in signing Martial this summer and they have already made an enquiry to United.
United boss Jose Mourinho did not appear impressed with the Frenchman’s performances last season and he publicly spoke out against the winger.
Martial featured in 42 matches in all competitions last season, contributing with eight goals and eight assists.
The Frenchman currently has two years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
Football Insider verdict
Anthony Martial should be given a chance in the first-team at Manchester United next season. Although he failed to produce consistent performances last season, the Frenchman demonstrated in his debut campaign that he has the potential to be one of the best forwards in the Premier League. The winger has already shown in the pre-season tour that he is ready to hold down a place as a regular starter next season. Jose Mourinho is a manager who normally doesn’t have much patience with young talent and it is possible that he would want to offload Martial in order to rely on the more experienced Perisic who managed to contribute with 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last season.
In other Manchester United transfer news, this winger is undergoing a trial at the club.
