Report: Newcastle's loan swoop of £120k-a-week international target hang in one man's hands

A potential Newcastle United loan swoop for England international Joe Hart is hanging in the hands of West Ham boss David Moyes, according to a report.
The Express claim on their website that the Magpies are keen on securing a temporary move for the 30-year-old goalkeeper from Manchester City, but that Pep Guardiola’s side do not have a termination clause in the season-long loan deal agreed with the Hammers at the start of the season.
Hart has fallen out of favour under Moyes since he replaced Slaven Bilic at the helm, and has been missing from the starting XI for the club’s last eight league matches, Adrian stepping up and taking his place.
Hart is said to be seeking regular first team action in order to secure his place in England’s World Cup squad for the summer, and Newcastle are ready to reignite their long-term interest in signing him up, having lost out to West Ham in the summer, although the final decision lies in Moyes’ hands.
The 75-cap England star has made 16 appearances for the Hammers this season, and is said to be on wages in the region of £120,000-a-week.
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez may be keen on securing Hart’s services to add some experience to his defence, but Mike Ashley will never sanction a deal to pay the full amount of his reported wages. Plus, is Moyes really going to get rid of an experienced keeper who offers competition and a proven back up option in case of injury or suspension – especially when they know relegation rivals are in the hunt for his signing? While Manchester City might officially own him, they have little choice in what happens to their man while he is at West Ham, and if the Hammers’ boss does not want to play him, then that is the way it will be. Newcastle should not be relying on Moyes’ decision though, and are likely to be exploring other options after missing out on Hart.
