Report: Senior powerhouse among seven set for summer axe in massive Tottenham clearout
Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen is among seven players facing the axe this summer as Mauricio Pochettino looks to have a clear out of his fringe figures, according to a report.
Football.London claim on their website that the senior powerhouse, who has spent the season on loan at Turkish side Fenerbahce after having joined in 2016, is joined by a host of senior and young prospects facing the threat of a permanent exit at the end of the season, having all spent their time out at other clubs during the current campaign.
As well as Janssen, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Anton Walkes, Connor Ogilvie, Tom Glover, Shayon Harrison and Ryan Loft are all said to be destined to leave north London, with some of those out of contract come the end of the season.
Those who are reportedly in with a chance of surviving after temporary exits are Luke Amos, who joined Stevenage in January, Josh Onomah and Cameron Carter-Vickers after spells in the Championship.
Football Insider verdict
Spurs have began to establish themselves as a producer of future talent but it appears that there could be a number leaving permanently this summer as Pochettino looks to bring only the best through to the senior side in north London. None of the names mentioned have ever shown anything close to the expected level of performances and there is no point keeping them on if they are not going to make it. Onomah and Carter-Vickers are both highly rated at Tottenham but whether they have developed as expected remains to be seen. Expect the pair to feature heavily in the club’s pre-season preparations as Pochettino runs the rule over them ahead of next season.
