Report: Tottenham eyeing £30m-rated attacker, London rivals have opening bid rejected
By Derek Smithson
Tottenham and Arsenal are set to battle out for the signature of Juventus attacker Juan Cuadrado, according to a report.
The Sun claim that Spurs are keen on signing the 29-year-old as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add some extra quality to the squad.
It is understood that north London rivals Arsenal are in the running and have already seen a £17.6million bid rejected by Italian giants Juventus.
The report details that the Serie A club are holding out for closer to £30million for the Colombia international.
Cuadrado only completed a full-time move to Juventus in May after a spending the last two seasons on loan from Chelsea, but it is believed they are prepared to sell him for £30million to raise funds.
The right winger has done well during his time with the Champions League runners-up and racked up 85 appearances for them in two years.
He has chipped in with eight goals and supplied 19 assists in return, winning two domestic titles in the process.
Football Insider verdict:
Cuadrado failed to make an impression in England after failing to score a single goal, but was given just 15 appearances by Chelsea and did pick up a Premier League medal 2015. The winger would still be a fantastic addition for Spurs and they should try to beat Arsenal to his signature. The 29-year-old is an experienced player that has Champions League know-how, something that Pochettino’s side need desperately. He is blessed with blistering pace and does have quality in the final third. Spurs are crying out for a pacy attacker to give their team an extra dimension next season an Cuadrado could be a perfect fit. They already have technical players in the shape of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son and Erik Lamela, but need an injection of speed.
In other Tottenham transfer news, they are considered joint favourites to sign a 20-year-old winger.
