Rice and Frimpong react to Jadon Sancho’s update amid Man United exit rumours

Declan Rice and Jeremie Frimpong are among those that have reacted to a new update from Jadon Sancho as he seeks an exit route out of Man United this summer.

The Red Devils paid £73million [BBC Sport] to Borussia Dortmund for Sancho’s services back in 2021, but his time at the club has not gone to plan at all over the four years that have followed.

His fall-outs with Erik ten Hag saw him loaned out to Chelsea last summer, but despite some decent showings under Enzo Maresca, the Blues chose to exercise their £5m option not to sign Sancho at the end of 2024/25.

The 25-year-old has no future at Old Trafford, and former Man United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in June that Sancho’s most likely destination is Saudi Arabia due to European clubs not being able to meet his wage demands.

Juventus have been linked with a move for Sancho, and he is expected to seal a departure from the Red Devils soon with The Sun (18 July) reporting that Nottingham Forest are also interested in signing him ahead of the new campaign.

Sancho shares social media update

Sancho has informed United of his desire to depart for pastures new in recent weeks, and is one of a number of their players who is training away from Amorim’s first-team right now [The Athletic].

He took to Instagram on 18 July to post a new update of him away from the club on a private jet, so is clearly pretty relaxed about his future right now.

The likes of Declan Rice, Jeremie Frimpong, fellow exit-linked Red Devil Antony, Kobbie Mainoo and Andre Onana were among those that liked his post, while Pedro Neto commented: “Jadinhooooooo” with three heart eyes emojis and Marc Cucurella replied: “Enjoy the life.”

Nottingham Forest move would be good for Sancho

Football Insider verdict

Sancho is part of a wider problem at United that seems to have spiralled into a desperate situation over the last year or so, with numerous players unsure of their future at the club despite once being key men.

It is only a matter of time before he leaves the club once again, much like Marcus Rashford and Antony, and joining a club on the rise like Forest, who will also offer the chance to play in Europe again, is an opportunity that he should jump at this summer.

Sancho would have less pressure at Forest than at United or Chelsea, and Nuno Espirito Santo also has a good recent track record of being successful with previously unfavoured players like Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Sun state that Reds owner Evangelos Marinakis is prepared to spend big to sign him, while former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that United will have to subsidise Sancho’s wages to let him go this summer, so a move to take him to the City Ground could well be viable from a financial point of view too.
