Robbie Savage rips into Tottenham for PL form, comments on top four chances

Robbie Savage is uncertain whether Tottenham will secure a top four finish this season in the Premier League.

Spurs are in the hunt for a Champions League spot this year and are currently seventh in the table as the midway point approaches.

They have finished second and third in the last two seasons, but have dropped off the boil this campaign and there temporary switch to Wembley has certainly not helped their home form.

Savage has revealed he isn’t confident that Spurs can end up in the top four as they battle the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Burnley for a position, with the two Manchester clubs currently leading the way.

The pundit has also ripped into the north London club for their form and feels dropping home points against lesser opponents has cost them so far in the Premier League.

“After two close shaves with the title, maybe their best chance of winning the Premier League with this team has gone,” Savage wrote in his column for the Daily Mirror.

“There’s no point in beating Real Madrid with a swaggering performance in Europe if you’re going to drop points against Swansea and West Brom at Wembley on the home front. Not sure they will even finish in the top four.”

Spurs are facing a vital set of fixtures in the next couple of weeks and they start on Saturday with a trip to sixth-placed Burnley, who they simply must turnover to state their intentions.

They now look like facing a real battle to earn a top four spot, but certainly have the talent in their squad to go on a winning run.

Toby Alderweireld’s absence has been a real problem for Spurs in recent weeks, but have been given the boost of Davinson Sanchez’s return from suspension against Burnley.

In the latest Tottenham news, Eric Dier has slammed critics of his Spurs teammate.
