Robby McCrorie told to finalise Rangers move after what expert has heard
Robby McCrorie needs to move on from Rangers this summer following Jack Butland’s arrival.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton has heard McCrorie held talks with Michael Beale over his future but insisted he won’t be number one choice next season.
The 25-year-old has two years remaining on his contract at Ibrox but has struggled to stake a claim in the first team ahead of veteran shot-stopper Allan McGregor.
The long-serving keeper’s contract expired earlier this summer and Beale has signed former England international Jack Butland as a replacement.
Although McCrorie featured for the Gers towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign, with Butland’s arrival he is likely to slip down the pecking order once again.
Hutton suggested it may be time for McCrorie to look for other options.
“I have heard that he has had talks with the manager and you can totally understand why,” he told Football Insider.
“He was given an opportunity towards the end of last season, I thought he did really well but I always knew Beale would bring somebody else in.
“With Butland coming in with his experience and know-how, he is going to start as number one.

“I feel sorry for McCrorie because he does not really know where his career is going at this moment in time. He just wants to play football so I understand him going in and speaking with the manager and seeing if the best option is for him to leave.
“He wants to play football so you have to understand how he is feeling.“
