Robinson ‘amazed’ by Newcastle United as chaotic footage emerges

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Newcastle United for their game management against Chelsea.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the win embodied the “amazing turnaround” at St. James’ Park over the past 12 months.

The Magpies beat Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday (12 November).

Eddie Howe’s side made a series of robust, hefty challenges in the final few minutes which disrupted and angered the visitors.

As shown on BBC’s Match of the Day, tensions boiled over at the full-time whistle with Dan Burn and Kai Havertz confronting each other.

Players from both sides then had to be pulled apart before heading down the tunnel.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the chaotic final few minutes at St. James’ Park, Robinson said: “It was all kicking off.

“You could see the camaraderie and togetherness of the players. They showed a toughness, a resilience and a will to win.

“I cannot remember the last time I looked at a betting slip and Newcastle were favourites to beat Chelsea. It is an amazing turnaround.

“A lot is down to their energy and commitment and that showed at the end of the game. They managed the last few minutes brilliantly.”
