Ross Wilson sends message to Elliot Anderson as he gets ready to join Newcastle

Elliot Anderson has received a parting message from Ross Wilson after leaving his post as Nottingham Forest’s chief football officer.

Man City are the latest club to take an interest in Anderson, going to show just how sharp the 22-year-old’s rise to fame has been at the City Ground over the last season-and-a-half.

On the other side of Manchester, Mick Brown told Football Insider that Anderson would be “perfect” for Ruben Amorim, and it is difficult to see which teams would not improve with his presence.

The former Newcastle United man has made an incredible impact for Thomas Tuchel‘s England team, but there are now growing rumours of a return to St James’ Park, especially after Wilson’s recent move.

Wilson’s recent message to the player has added more fuel to the fire.

Ross Wilson impressed by Elliot Anderson on England duty

Taking to Instagram (14 October), Anderson celebrated yet another England victory against Latvia, alongside pictures of his performance and the caption: “World Cup spot secured!”

Arsenal‘s Declan Rice replied with three fire emojis, while Aston Villa‘s Morgan Rogers wrote: “Playaaaa”, and club teammate Morgan Gibbs-White responded: “Top,” with a heart emoji.

However, the comment that caught the most attention was from Wilson, so soon after his confirmed move to St James’ Park, simply replying with love heart and clapping emojis.

Wilson clearly still has a lot of love for Anderson and those back at the City Ground, but it has done a lot to fuel rumours of the player’s possible return after leaving Newcastle just two summers ago.

What has Wilson said about the Nottingham Forest star?

Speaking positively about Anderson’s arrival back in the summer of 2024, Wilson said: “We are sure he will thrive in a Forest shirt, as other players in his age profile have done.

“As soon as the opportunity arose for him to potentially join, it was something we were all excited to make happen,” and these are some strong words from the man who brought him to the City Ground.

If Newcastle wanted to try everything to re-sign Anderson either in January or next summer, he would likely be one of the leading figures attempting to get a deal over the line.

The Magpies might have just secured the boost needed to sign their former player over a plethora of circling Premier League giants.
