‘Rotten’ – Chris Sutton brutalises Rangers in instant reaction to defeat v Kilmarnock

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has brutalised Rangers after they squandered a one goal lead to lose 2-1 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon.

In Graeme Murty’s first game at the helm as manager, the Light Blues saw former Ibrox striker Kris Boyd net two second-half goals to hand them a second defeat in a row.

Declan John scored a neat finish to give the Gers hope in the first-half, but on the whole it was a below average performance from the Glasgow side and Killie were by far and away the better side.

In his instant reaction to the result at Rugby Park on Saturday, Sutton told BT Sport 1’s live post-match coverage of the game that Rangers had no right to win against Steve Clarke’s superior side.

“Kilmarnock were the better team, they were the dominant side,” he said.

“Rangers were rotten this afternoon, they really were.

“It’s a blue Christmas for Rangers.”

Rangers could drop 11 points behind bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Premiership table if Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Aberdeen on Saturday in the 3pm kick-offs.

However a win for the Bhoys could do the Light Blues a favour in keeping their hopes of a runners-up spot alive as Aberdeen could move six points clear of them.

Next up for the Gers is a home clash against Motherwell at Ibrox on Wednesday before a vital Old Firm derby clash next Saturday before heading into the winter break.
