Ryan Sessegnon sends message to Tom Cairney after Fulham announcement
Ryan Sessegnon sent a message to Fulham captain Tom Cairney on social media after the club made an announcement regarding the Scottish midfielder.
The 25-year-old returned to his boyhood club after five years with Tottenham, which also included a loan spell at Hoffenheim.
Sessegnon was regarded as one of the Premier League’s most talented young players at the time of his Craven Cottage departure in 2019.
However, in North London, the England Under-21 international struggled to secure a regular place under a series of managers and was often passed over for more experienced options.
Marco Silva was hesitant to use the Motspur Park graduate upon his return to West London, but after a series of impressive performances from the bench, Sessegnon was used as a right-winger in a series of games and made an instant impact, scoring in wins over Wolves, Liverpool, Southampton, and against his former club Tottenham.
And for Fulham fans, there were several special moments as the 25-year-old once again built a strong connection with captain Cairney on the pitch, six years after the pair had devastated Championship defences together.

Ryan Sessegnon shares message with Tom Cairney
Fulham announced that Cairney had committed to a one-year deal, extending his stay in West London into its 11th year.
Sessegnon reacted by sharing the club’s post on his Instagram story, with the caption: “T Dot”, an affectionate nickname for the Scot.

Ryan Sessegnon a versatile option but Fulham need new signings
Football Insider Verdict
Cairney‘s contract extension is great news for two reasons, the first being that it is good news that the club recognise what an asset the Scotland international can be, and the second that the club’s chiefs are awake and active in the transfer market.
Fulham have some glaring issues that need addressing, namely finding a new striker, but more importantly, the club must signal to Silva they are capable and willing to back him this window.
Prior to Cairney’s contract news, Kenny Tete’s extension and a champagne partner were the only significant announcements coming out of the club, which does not bode well for a European challenge, given the Whites’ rivals are all active and busy already this summer.
Sessegnon is a fantastic option and a versatile player, and securing his signing last summer worked a treat, but with Adama Traore now in the final year of his deal, a new right-winger can be added to the shopping list this summer.
Finding cost-effective options like the 25-year-old will be important this summer, but splashing some cash on significant upgrades is what will give Fulham the boost they need next season.
