Sandro Tonali’s stance on agreeing Newcastle deal revealed
Newcastle United have faced a mixed start to the Premier League season after what proved to be a turbulent summer transfer window in the North East.
Eddie Howe’s side beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 last time out, but remain 11th in the Premier League table with two wins, three draws and two defeats from seven games.
The Magpies’ pre-season preparations were impacted by speculation surrounding Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool, and they are determined not to face a repeat.
As a result, Newcastle are lining up contract offers for a number of key members of their starting XI including the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier.
One of the leading names on their list is Sandro Tonali, who has enjoyed a strong start to the season, with his current deal set to expire in 2027.

Sandro Tonali happy at Newcastle amid new contract offer
Football Insider revealed on 14 October that Newcastle are planning to open talks with Tonali over a contract extension to keep him at St James’ Park.
The midfielder is believed to be keen to extend his stay and is happy at the club with no immediate plans to leave despite ongoing speculation.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Tonali is keen to repay the Magpies for their backing during a difficult spell.
“Newcastle want Tonali to sign a new contract,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s been playing exceptionally well and has raised his game this season.
“It’s worth remembering shortly after he arrived at Newcastle, this betting scandal came out and he was forced to spend a long period out with a suspension.
“There were question marks over how he was going to be when he came back, mentally as well as on the pitch, and they’ve helped him with that process.
“Newcastle always stuck with him and now he’s come back into the team and he’s played his part in helping them kick on from where they were.
“From what I hear, he’s grateful for the support they have given him and is keen to pay them back.
“I think he’s happy there, he’s playing regularly and he’s an important player now, so I expect he’ll be willing to extend his stay and it works for all parties.”
Juventus among the clubs plotting moves for Tonali
Despite the latest developments surrounding a new contract at St James’ Park, Tonali continues to be targeted for a return to Serie A, with AC Milan and Juventus keeping tabs.
Shortly after his move to Newcastle, speculation emerged that Tonali regretted leaving Milan, although he has seemingly now adapted to life in the North East.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Tonali could struggle to turn down Juventus if they came in with a big offer.

There is no guarantee that Tonali will sign a new deal despite the Magpies efforts, leading to new concerns behind the scenes, but there is a confidence he will stay.
Efforts to commit his long-term future to the club have already begun behind the scenes, with the Magpies hopeful a new contract offer will tempt him.
