Sean Dyche to ‘block’ some Everton signings

Sean Dyche will want to have a say in any potential new signings at Everton moving forward with the new ownership – and will block any players that won’t fit his style of play.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed that Dyche “wants to manage players that he wants.”

The Friedkin Group are in the process of purchasing Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in the Merseyside giants, and they are expected to usher in a new era for the football club.

Football Insider revealed that Friedkin will look to financially back the manager and make funds available for Everton in the January transfer window.

Whether or not Dyche is the man who gets to spend that money remains to be seen, as Football Insider reported that Dyche remains under pressure as The Friedkin Group have reservations about his long-term future.

Sean Dyche will want a say in any potential Everton signings

“[It] Depends what system is put in place,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“Whether there’s a sporting director put in place, whether there’s a football director put in place, a new one, whether he restructures the boardroom and what type of conditions.

“Having played for Sean and knowing him, he’s a manager, he’s a manager of a football club.

“He’s not a coach, he doesn’t work with players that he’s given, he’s a manager who wants to manage players that he wants.

“He knows his system, he knows the way he wants to play and he knows the players that fit that and he will likely want to have a big say in who he signs and whether that’s going to be the case going forward or not.

“There’s a lot of questions going to be answered at Everton with the new ownership coming in, there’s obviously going to be some kind of restructuring in the boardroom, it just depends how the football side of the boardroom is restructured.

“Sean will want a say and that’s the way that some managers are.

“He’s got the success that he has and with more funds and better players he’ll be able to play a different way, he’ll be able to get more out of better players.

“He’ll be able to adapt his management skills whether he’s given the opportunity or not, time will tell.”
