Sean Goss gives Rangers huge encouragement summer deal can be done
By Richard Parks
Rangers loanee Sean Goss has given the club huge encouragement that they can sign permanently from QPR during the summer transfer window.
Graeme Murty has revealed that the central midfielder, 22, is one of his prime transfer targets after making a huge impact since joining on loan from the English Championship club in January.
Goss has nailed down a regular starting role in central midfield and has been integral to the team’s run of eight wins from nine matches since the winter break.
Intriguingly, the Manchester United academy product has revealed that he was told by QPR manager Ian Holloway, who brought the player to Loftus Road and hit out at Murty for going public on his desire to sign him permanently, that his style of play does not suit his parent team.
Football Insider verdict:
Holloway might have piled into Murty this week with his usual egotistical guff, but it doesn’t change the fact that the midfielder couldn’t get a game at the other Rangers. Given their 16th place in the Championship table, this brings into question the judgement of the outspoken Bristolian. Goss, who joined QPR in January of last year, has already made more appearances for Rangers than his parent club and demonstrated genuine class in the central acres. Holloway might be flexing his mouth, but he should be concerned that Goss has put him soundly in his place. If the player wants to move to Ibrox, and there is a clear signal with this interview that he does, Holloway is unlikely to be able to do anything about it.
In other Rangers transfer news, the club are firmly in the running to sign a goal machine from north-west English high flyers.
