Sheffield Wednesday player ratings v Leeds: Attacker was in Jansson’s pocket
By Amir Mir
Football Insider rates the Sheffield Wednesday players out of ten after they lose 1-0 to Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Kieran Westwood 6 – The home team didn’t cause too many problems for the keeper who would be disappointed with his defence for the goal they conceded.
Jack Hunt 5 – Should not have let the cross go in for the first goal and didn’t provide enough threat in attack.
Vincent Sasso 3 – His defensive lapse and shocking decision making cost his team the game. Should not have played the offside trap when the cross came in for goalscorer Chris Wood.
Glenn Loovens 4 – Another player who should have been more vocal and in position to deal with the cross.
Morgan Fox 4 – Taken off at half-time because he didn’t provide the service needed for his strikers.
Ross Wallace 6 – Arguably one of Wednesday’s better players, at times he was dangerous at set pieces and tried to get the ball moving forward.
Sam Hutchinson 6 – Mixed performance from the midfielder who did really well to keep Pablo Hernandez quiet, but didn’t do enough going forward.
Almen Abdi 5 – Quiet game for the experienced campaigner who went missing on the big stage.
Adam Reach 5 – Wednesday’s attackers failed to cause any problems and one of the reasons was because of the poor service from players such as Reach.
Jordan Rhodes 3 – The on-loan striker didn’t really receive any service, but in truth, he missed a crucial penalty which could prove to be very costly at the end of the season.
Fernando Forestieri 4 – Poor game for the Italian who didn’t really provide the spark needed for his side. The defensive duo of Jansson and Bartley had the attacker in their pocket.
SUBS:
Callum McManaman 5 – (for Fox, 45mins)
Barry Bannan 5 – (for Abdi, 68mins)
Steven Fletcher 5 – (for Rhodes, 68mins)
