Shocking strikers – the five worst forwards signed by Sullivan and Gold at West Ham
1. Andy Carroll
Easily the biggest disappointment in the Sullivan/Gold era England international is former Newcastle “ace” Andy Carroll.
£15million was the fee that the Hammers hierarchy coughed up for the then Liverpool forward despite enduring an injury-stricken career up until that point.
The powers that be thought they could get a tune out of the Geordie lad.
Wrong, they couldn’t.
Carroll, 29, is now more at home on the treatment table than on the field of play but the man who had so much potential is still under contract at the London Stadium under next summer.
So until then, he’ll continue life in the physio room.
In other West Ham news, Sullivan and Gold can save Hammers future by snapping up top-flight title winner in summer.
