Simon Mignolet posts Twitter message after Liverpool win
By Amir Mir
Simon Mignolet stated on Twitter that Liverpool going back to winning ways was important after they picked up a 3-0 victory against Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.
Prior to the match manager Jurgen Klopp had decided to axe Loris Karius between the sticks and replace him with the Belgian Mignolet.
The shot-stopper went on to claim a clean sheet as the Reds registered a comfortable three points against the newly-promoted side.
Adam Lallana’s brace on either side of the break and striker Divock Origi’s second goal in as many games, helped Klopp’s men in their title push.
After the game Mignolet posted this message to supporters on his personal Twitter account.
Mignolet has played nine games in all competitions this season, his first game for the club since the 2-0 EFL Cup win over Leeds in November.
Additionally, he has appeared on six occasions in the Premier League, last playing for the Reds during the 2-1 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in September.
The win at the Riverside means Liverpool leapfrog Arsenal into second place after the Gunners suffered a 2-1 loss at Everton on Tuesday night.
Klopp’s men are on 34 points from 16 games, but they are six behind leaders Chelsea who recorded their tenth consecutive league victory when they defeated Sunderland 1-0.
The Anfield club will now prepare for a Merseyside derby against rivals Everton next Monday at Goodison Park.
