Sources: Altay Bayindir closes in on Man United transfer after ‘deal agreed’

Altay Bayindir is edging closer to a move away from Man United as he continues to push for a move away ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old is unhappy playing second-fiddle to Senne Lammens, who has cemented his position as the number-one goalkeeper under Michael Carrick.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, reports from Turkey that a deal has already been agreed are not far wide of the mark.

Turkish giants Besiktas are making moves to sign Bayindir and are increasingly confident of reaching an agreement with Man United for his signature.

While the final decision over his future is expected to be made in the summer after January moves were blocked, there is a growing feeling he will now move on.

Man United prepared to agree Altay Bayindir exit

Football Insider revealed on 27 February that Bayindir is unhappy at Man United and will push to leave the club when the summer transfer window opens.

He has featured just 17 times across all competitions since joining the Red Devils in 2023 and is now keen to move on in search of first-team football.

Man United now feel he is not part of their plans for the future and, given his unhappiness and frustration with his role, feel the time has come to move him on.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I wouldn’t be surprised [if a deal was agreed for Bayindir to leave Man United].

“I think Bayindir has been frustrated at Old Trafford for quite a while now.

“So now, obviously, there are these reports in Turkey claiming Besiktas are confident that they’ve got a deal agreed for the Turkish international.

“I think the player himself would be very much open to a move away from Man United in summer just to get his career back on track. He wants to be playing regularly at this stage of his career.

“I think a return to Turkey with Besiktas would be a good move for him as well.

“Bayindir has been keen to get out and move on for the sake of his career for a while.

“I think summer gives the right time for everybody to sort out everything. can bring in cover and Bayindir can move on in search of regular first team football.”

Which other players could quit Man United this summer?

Bayindir may not be the only player on the way out of Old Trafford this summer, despite a marked upturn in their performances since Carrick’s appointment.

Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 19 February that Man United will accept offers for Mount as he is not part of their long-term plans.

Despite having been a favourite of Ruben Amorim’s, the 27-year-old has been unable to make his mark under Carrick due to fitness concerns.

He came off the bench in the closing stages of the win again Man City, before being left on the sidelines against Arsenal, and has missed the following four games.

His ongoing fitness issues, which have proved problematic since his arrival in 2023, alongside a number of inconsistent displays mean they are prepared to move him on.
