Sources: Big update on Liverpool signing Ryan Gravenberch
Bayern Munich are unwilling to part with Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch this summer in a major new development, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old has long been of interest to the Merseysiders, who were considering stepping up that interest after losing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.
But it is believed Bayern are keen to hold on to the midfielder, who only joined from Ajax last summer (2022).
That is despite him being an unused substitute for Friday’s (18 August) Bundesliga opener against Werder Bremen and the DFL-Supercup loss against RB Leipzig.
Gravenberch made 33 appearances across all competitions for the German giants last season – but managed just three league starts.
He cost Bayern a reported £16million last summer (2022) and signed a contract running until June 2027 after leaving boyhood club Ajax.
The three-time Dutch champion is an 11-cap international for the Netherlands – but hasn’t made a senior squad since November 2021.
Gravenberch was instead called up as part of the Under-21 setup for this summer’s European Championships in Georgia and Romania.
Liverpool are on the hunt for midfield reinforcements in the final weeks of the window – even after agreeing a deal for Japan and Stuttgart star Wataru Endo on Friday (18 August).

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have both made moves to Saudi Arabia, while James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita were all released at the end of their contracts in June.
Liverpool, who will play Europa League football this season, face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday (18 August).
In other news, Liverpool well placed to land £30million signing – Virgil van Dijk is “big fan”.
