Sources: Birmingham City in hunt to sign Hull City star Mallik Wilks

Birmingham City are among the clubs keen to sign Hull City forward Mallik Wilks this summer, Football Insider understands.

The 23-year-old has slipped down the pecking order under new manager Shota Arveladze and is eyeing the exit door.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Birmingham are among a number of clubs home and abroad keeping tabs on Wilks’ situation.

The Midlands outfit are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer with the likes of Tahith Chong and Onel Hernandez set to return to their parent clubs after their loan deals end.

With a year left on his contract, Wilks is an attractive proposition to clubs in England and overseas.

The Leeds academy product has played almost 200 league matches, including 30 goals and 10 assists in 89 Hull appearances.

Wilks started 75% of all Hull’s matches in the first half of the season under previous manager Grant McCann, before suffering a foot injury in December when he was in the middle of a good run of form.

He was recovering from injury when Arveladze arrived in January.

This subsequently has seen a change of approach and personnel by the Tigers.

The attacker has featured just once under the new manager and has not been in a matchday squad since February.

His potential availability ahead of the summer has caught the eye of several clubs across the Football League and overseas.

Wilks has netted nine goals in 53 Championship appearances and 33 times in 90 League One games.

A versatile attacker, he has featured regularly as both a centre-forward and right-sided winger.
