Sources: Chelsea come up with plan to stop Levi Colwill quitting for Liverpool
Chelsea are refusing to sell loanee Levi Colwill this summer amid interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blues are set to undergo a squad overhaul at the end of the season after inflating their squad with a number of signings in January and last summer.
But it is understood that while many Blues players will be heading for the exit at Stamford Bridge this season, any bids for Colwill will not be entertained.
The 20-year-old centre-back has shone out on loan at Brighton this season, and he has begun to attract interest from top-flight rivals.
Liverpool, Tottenham and Man City have all monitored the availability of Colwill and Chelsea are now bracing for a bombardment of offers.
However, the London club deem Colwill untouchable and are refusing to sell him as they are confident he will become a Premier League star.
Football Insider sources revealed on Saturday (22 April) that Liverpool are plotting a deal for Colwill after he impressed their scouts this season.
The Reds have conducted multiple scouting missions on the youngster during his 15 appearances for the Seagulls this season.
To persuade Colwill to stay put in London and fight for a spot, Chelsea are willing to hand him first-team guarantees for the 2023/24 season, with another loan move looking increasingly unlikely.
The Blues board have identified Colwill as an ideal long-term partner for Wesley Fofana at centre-back, and want to start pairing the duo together from as early as next season.
