Sources: Chelsea now want to sign Neymar after he’s put up for sale
Chelsea are monitoring Neymar’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain ahead of a potential summer move, sources have told Football Insider.
The French giants are considering a major squad overhaul in the summer and could look to sell the 31-year-old Brazilian at the end of the season.
It is understood that PSG are frustrated at their lack of European success and are willing to completely change the direction of the club by selling a number of their superstar players.
It has been widely reported that Messi could leave the Parisian club to rejoin Barcelona, while Neymar and Renato Sanches are also among a growing list of players to be sold.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (18 April) that Liverpool have shown an interest in signing long-term target Sanches after he was put up for sale.
Chelsea have also been excited by a potential fire sale at PSG this summer, and are particularly interested in a deal for Neymar.
The Blues have shared a long-term interest in the former Barcelona star and remain keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge, but the club’s financial issues could make a move hard to complete.
After spending £600million in the past two windows, Chelsea are facing restrictions from Financial Fair Play regulations and need to sell players in order to make heavy investments once again this summer.

PSG paid a record-breaking £200million for Neymar in 2017 and the Ligue Un leaders would only sell him for a huge fee.
Neymar has been out of action for PSG since mid-February with an ankle injury, but prior to his setback he boasted an impressive 2022/23 record of 18 goals and 17 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
