Sources: Hause 'keen' to re-join West Ham this month after preliminary talks held

Kortney Hause is “keen” to rejoin West Ham this month after they opened preliminary talks over a potential deal with Aston Villa, Football Insider has learned.

This site revealed last week (8 January) that the Hammers had made an approach for Hause, 26, while Watford have also made an enquiry for the defender.

A source with knowledge of Hause’s situation has told Football Insider that he is “keen” to head back to the club where he began his career.

The London-born centre-back was on the books of the club from a young age until he was released at the age of 16.

A reunion is now on the cards if a deal can be agreed.

Hause’s contract with Villa is due to expire at the end of the season but Football Insider has learned the club have the option to extend it by 12 months.

That would enable the Midlands outfit to secure a higher fee for Hause this month.

Alternatively, they could extend his deal until 2023 and then loan him out before the 31 January cut-off.

Hause has struggled for game time since since joining from Wolves in the summer of 2019 for a fee of around £3m.

He has played 53 times for the Midlands giants after accumulating 80 appearances for Wolves.

David Moyes and the Irons recruitment team are weighing up a bid as Hause is able to slot in to various roles, including centre-back and left-back as well as in the left of a three-man defence.

Hause has made seven appearances in all competitions this season.

That includes only four Premier League starts, the last of which came in the 2-1 defeat by Brentford on 2 January before he dropped down to the bench again for the loss to Man United last weekend.
