Tottenham have pulled out of the race to sign Dominik Szoboszlai as he closes in on a move to RB Leipzig, Football Insider can reveal.

Leipzig have an agreement with Szoboszlai and are now negotiating the terms of the deal with their sister club Red Bull Salzburg.

Szoboszlai has a release clause of almost £23m in his Salzburg contract that must be triggered by a set date.

The Hungary international has attracted strong interest from Tottenham as well as their big rivals Arsenal.

As previously revealed by this site, the Gunners have made multiple bids to sign the in-demand youngster and held talks with his camp in recent transfer windows.

But Leipzig are confident of fending off the English big hitters and a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are no longer in the race after holding discussions this month.

Szoboszlai, who has been operating in a left-sided midfield role, has netted eight times and supplied nine assists from 19 appearances in all competitions this season.

This comes after his stellar 2019-20 campaign yielded 12 goals and 18 assists from 40 appearances.

Critically, he has already impressed in the Champions League and has scored twice in six matches in the competition this season.

Szoboszlai made his international debut as an 18-year-old back in March 2019 against Slovakia and has 12 appearances already for his country.
