Sources: Leicester City could still sack Brendan Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City future is still up in the air ahead of the mid-November season cut-off, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League club’s hierarchy discussed sacking the 49-year-old before and during the last international break but held off and have been rewarded with a turnaround in form.
Leicester have climbed from the foot of the Premier League to 17th in the table after five matches in October brought three wins, just one defeat, and four clean sheets.

But well-placed sources say relations between Rodgers and the board remain tense for some time, and have been for most of the calendar year.
He is expected to remain in charge up until the World Cup but a change of manager during the six-week domestic break is still a possibility.
It has been widely reported that the northern Irishman only remained in a job after the September international break due to the £10million-plus cost of paying him off.
That suggestion, when put to Rodgers, led to him walking out of one press conference.
Nevertheless, it is a genuine consideration for the Leicester board, who have been doing background checks on potential manager alternatives.
Football Insider revealed in February that Rodgers had fallen out with longstanding Foxes director of football Jon Rudkin, with the club’s recruitment a particular bone of contention.
The pair failed to repair their relationship and it was exacerbated following a winless start to the new season that left Leicester bottom of the Premier League.
Leicester also came close to sacking Rodgers in February following a grim series of results.

Rodgers joined Leicester in February 2019 following the departure of Claude Puel.
The highlight of his tenure came at the end of the 2020-21 season as he led his side to FA Cup glory.
