Sources: Liverpool have agreed £9.4m Stefan Bajcetic deal

Liverpool starlet Stefan Bajcetic will earn £9.4million over the course of his new Anfield contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders announced last month (26 January) that the 18-year-old had signed a “long-term” deal following his breakthrough this season.

It is understood that Bajcetic’s deal will run until June 2027 and has lifted him into the £40,000-a-week bracket.

The youngster only signed his previous deal in August 2022 but has been rewarded with improved terms to reflect his new status as a first-team option.

Bajcetic made his senior Liverpool debut as a substitute in the 9-0 demolition of Bournemouth earlier this season.

Since then, he has gone from strength to strength – making 12 appearances and even scoring in the Premier League against Aston Villa.

The defensive midfielder has made four consecutive starts across top-flight and FA Cup games amid fitness worries for experienced star Fabinho.

As per the Liverpool Echo (10 February), Jurgen Klopp confirmed Thiago could also miss the Merseyside derby on Monday (13 January).

Bajcetic is capped by Spain at Under-18 level but is reportedly set to be “fast-tracked” into the Under-21 setup ahead of the European Championships later this year.

The Vigo-born talent, who joined Liverpool from Celta Vigo in 2020, is also eligible to represent Serbia at international level.

Bajcetic is one of a number of starlets making an impact for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season – with Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho, and Curtis Jones all regulars in the first-team.
