Sources: Liverpool make Federico Chiesa January U-turn
Liverpool have made a dramatic U-turn regarding the future of Federico Chiesa, sources have told Football Insider.
The 27-year-old joined the Reds from Juventus in the summer of 2024, in an attempt to spark his career back into life.
However, as Liverpool won the Premier League last season, the Italian international made just six appearances in the competition.
Chiesa was linked with an Anfield exit in the summer window, but despite the rumours, he remained with the Merseyside club.

Liverpool decide future of Federico Chiesa
It was originally thought that Chiesa was likely to leave Liverpool in the January window, in order to find game time elsewhere.
However, sources say that the attacker is now set to stay with the Reds, after becoming a bigger part of Arne Slot’s side.
After originally being left out entirely, Chiesa replaced the injured Giovanni Leoni in Liverpool’s Champions League squad.
The former Juventus man has provided some big moments for the Merseyside club this season, scoring two Premier League goals already despite getting limited minutes.
Chiesa could be given the chance to shine
Liverpool spent big money on the likes of Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz over the summer, so many believed that there wouldn’t be room for Chiesa.

However, Isak and Wirtz have struggled to adapt to life at Anfield, and it has given the Italian winger a chance to impress.
During his 153 minutes of time on the pitch this season, Chiesa has already managed to grab four goal contributions in all competitions.
It means he is getting a goal or assist every 38 minutes, and if the big-money signings continue to underperform, then there is no reason why he won’t get more game time.
