Sources: Major update on Fulham signing Callum Hudson-Odoi

Fulham are confident about wrapping up a deal for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in the final month of the window, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (28 July) that the Cottagers are in the box seat to land the 22-year-old.

And it is believed Fulham are ready to swoop and confident about wrapping up a deal – despite a difference in valuations preventing a full agreement with Chelsea at present.

Hudson-Odoi is also the subject of interest from Serie A side Lazio, with manager Maurizio Sarri keen to reunite with the winger after their time together at Stamford Bridge.

However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that he would prefer to remain in England as he attempts to rebuild his career.

The England international is also wanted by Nottingham Forest as their transfer spending continues – but Fulham’s London location is likely to give them the edge in the battle for his signature.

Hudson-Odoi is ready to leave Stamford Bridge with one year remaining of his reported £180,000-a-week contract.

Chelsea have brought in several options ahead of him since Todd Boehly’s takeover – with Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling and Mykhaylo Mudryk all signed in the last year.

Hudson-Odoi struggled to make an impact on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last season – notching just one goal and one assist in 21 appearances in all competitions.

That temporary spell, his first away from Chelsea, came after he suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury at the back end of the 2021-22 season.

Prior to that injury, he managed 16 goals and 22 assists in 126 outings for the Blues since coming through the club’s academy.

Fulham have completed permanent deals for Calvin Bassey and Raul Jimenez so far this summer.
