Sources: Major update on Tottenham bid to sign Dean Henderson

Tottenham are no longer in pole position to sign on-loan Man United goalkeeper Dean Henderson this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

This site revealed on Monday (3 April) that chaos behind the scenes at Spurs has put off several of the club’s summer transfer targets.

Managing director of football Fabio Paratici was forced to step back from his duties after a worldwide football ban, while their manager search has been complicated by Chelsea sacking Graham Potter.

The Blues have made contact with Julian Nagelsmann, who was Spurs’ first choice to succeed Antonio Conte.

It is believed that the uncertainty behind the scenes at Tottenham could prevent them from landing their top transfer targets in the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 April) that Aston Villa have identified Henderson as a potential replacement for Emiliano Martinez if he leaves the club this summer.

Sources with knowledge of the situation have revealed that Man United are likely to accept a bid of around £30million for the shot-stopper.

Henderson, 26, has accepted he has no future at Old Trafford and wants a permanent exit this summer.

The England international criticised the Red Devils in the wake of his loan move to Nottingham Forest last year (2022), accusing the club of “wasting” 12 months of his career in the 2021-22 campaign.

He is currently sidelined with a thigh injury but has turned out 20 times for Forest this season, conceding 33 goals and keeping six clean sheets.

Henderson’s deal at Man United expires in June 2025 and is worth a reported £100,000-a-week.

Tottenham

Spurs are expected to be in the market for a new first-choice shot-stopper this summer as they prepare to sell 36-year-old club captain Hugo Lloris.

Lloris, who has been criticised for a string of mistakes by fans and pundits alike this term, returned to action following injury in the 1-1 draw against Everton on Monday (3 April).
