Sources: Newcastle could now accept 22-year-old offer after ’11th-hour’ U-turn
Eintracht Frankfurt have their sights set on a renewed move to sign Newcastle United striker Will Osula in the January transfer window.
Frankfurt made a move to sign Osula on transfer deadline day, but ultimately missed out as the deal collapsed and he remained a part of Eddie Howe‘s squad.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, a number of Bundesliga clubs are keeping a close eye on whether the 22-year-old could be allowed to leave St James’ Park when the January transfer window opens.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that Osula could leave Newcastle on loan, although any short-term deal would likely include an option to buy.
Will Osula could leave Newcastle in January
Football Insider revealed in September that Osula could be allowed to leave Newcastle in the mid-season window after he failed to secure a summer exit.
The striker’s plans could prove key to his future, as he could be tempted to make the switch in search of increased playing time rather than bide his time at Newcastle.
Potential loan moves have been suggested, but there remains a possibility that he could move on permanently, with clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Yeah, the interest from Eintracht Frankfurt still remains and Will Osula.
“They thought they were going to get that deal done on deadline day, until Newcastle decided to pull the plug at the 11th hour and he remained at St James’ Park.
“Look, I think there are German clubs, Eintracht Frankfurt and other clubs also interested in Will Osula, are actively monitoring the situation.

“And as I said, if there is a possibility that Newcastle would let him leave in a permanent deal, it’s something that those clubs will be interested in.
“A lot will depend on the player if he wants to move on in search of regular first team football. And as I said, that interest from Eintracht Frankfurt and other German clubs remains in the striker.”
Newcastle’s stance on accepting Will Osula offer in January
Football Insider revealed on 11 October that Yoane Wissa will be key to Osula’s future given his ongoing fitness issues which have left Howe short of options.
In Wissa’s absence, the Denmark international has made 14 appearances so far this season and forced himself into contention as part of Howe’s squad.
Football Insider revealed on 26 October that Wissa’s fitness is a priority for Newcastle ahead of the addition of a new striker following his arrival from Brentford.

Football Insider revealed on 23 November that Newcastle want to sign a new striker, and Osula’s potential departure could push them to make a move.
If the Magpies are also able to sign a new striker in the January window, the forward will be pushed further down the pecking order, and his exit could be pushed through.
