Sources: Newcastle United now expected to sanction mega-money Bruno Guimaraes sale

Newcastle United are likely to sanction a mega-money sale of Bruno Guimaraes in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Brazilian’s potential move in the next transfer window is the one to “keep an eye on”.

Guimaraes has a £100million release clause in his contract which was inserted when he penned fresh terms in October last year.

The Magpies must sell key stars to finance any significant deals in the summer amid fears of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

The 26-year-old has garnered interest from elite clubs across Europe, including La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, following his impressive performances on Tyneside.

He has been a crucial player for Eddie Howe’s side since arriving from Lyon for a reported £40million two years ago and helped them to climb up the table and qualify for the Champions League ahead of schedule last season.

Since his arrival, he has made 89 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists.

This season, he has bagged one goal and five assists having started all but one game in their Premier League and Champions League campaigns.
