Sources: Newcastle United snub Cristiano Ronaldo after £16m late-night development
Newcastle United have no interest in signing newly-available free agent Cristiano Ronaldo, sources have told Football Insider.
The superstar forward, 37, has been linked with the north-east big spenders following the cancellation of his United contract on Tuesday night.
But Newcastle will not be pursuing Ronaldo, with a well-placed source telling us he does not fit in with their transfer policy.
The Portuguese is available on a free after leaving Old Trafford without receiving any compensation.
His contract has been ripped up and he will not receive any of the remaining £16million that had been remaining on his contract.
Eddie Howe’s style at Newcastle has been built on an aggressive pressing system, similar to the tactics used by Erik ten Hag at Man United.
Ronaldo’s lack of desire to press became a bone of contention at the start of the season as Man United struggled when the striker was on the pitch.

Ronaldo leaves Man United after scoring three goals in 16 total appearances this term.
