Sources: Premier League clubs race to sign Celtic star Matt O’Riley as exit plan revealed

Celtic are expecting bids for midfield star Matt O’Riley in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources with knowledge of the 22-year-old’s situation have revealed that he has been courted by English Premier League and Championship clubs.

It is believed that there is a strong level of interest in O’Riley as clubs draw up transfer plans for the off-season.

Sources say the Denmark Under-21 international would be “open to a move” from Celtic this summer after joining in January 2022.

O’Riley, who is under contract at Parkhead until May 2026, has become a key part of Ange Postecoglou’s side since making the move from MK Dons.

The 22-year-old has racked up two goals and 11 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops this season.

O’Riley has failed to appear in just one game this season – the Scottish League Cup Round of 16 win over Ross County in August 2022.

The midfielder started his career at Fulham but was released by the London club in 2020.

He signed for MK Dons and registered 10 goals and eight assists in 54 games before joining Celtic for a reported fee of £1.5million plus add-ons.

The London-born star is not the only Hoops star attracting attention ahead of the summer window.

Celtic

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (5 April) that Celtic expect Liel Abada to leave the club for a fee of around £10million this summer amid interest from Premier League sides.

Postecoglou’s side are in pole position to retain the Scottish Premiership this season – with a domestic treble also very possible.
