Sources: Rangers work on deal to sign Robin Propper replacement
Rangers are working on a deal to bring in a centre-back ahead of the new season, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gers are looking to replace Robin Propper, who is expected to make a swift return to his former club Twente, just a year after leaving the Dutch side to move to Glasgow.
New boss Russell Martin wants to strengthen his defensive ranks as he attempts to dethrone Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership next season.
However, the Glasgow giants have just over a week until their Champions League qualifying campaign gets underway, which leaves them racing against the clock to secure signings.

Rangers to improve after Propper exit
Propper was criticised heavily for some of his Rangers performances last season, and his exit could make room for Martin to add a more suitable central defender.
The 31-year-old started 22 Scottish Premiership games, but lost his place in the side towards the end of the campaign.
Rangers were left no choice but to utilise 37-year-old Leon Balogun at times last season, but the Nigerian has now completed a switch to Cyprus.
Martin will be eager to address the issues in defence quickly, to ensure he has the strongest squad he possibly can to tackle the Champions League qualifying stages.

Rangers pushing to sign Crystal Palace talent
Meanwhile, sources have told Football Insider that Martin is the driving force behind Rangers’ efforts to sign Crystal Palace star Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in the summer transfer window.
While there have been suggestions of a permanent move for the winger, a loan deal is considered more likely at this stage, given the finances involved in the deal.
This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 8 July that Rangers are considering signing Rak-Sakyi on loan.
However, the Ibrox club are not the only ones interested in the Palace academy product this summer, with a number of clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.
