Sources: Rochdale make move to sign Rangers starlet Ross McCausland after green light
Rochdale have joined the race to sign Rangers winger Ross McCausland, sources have told Football Insider.
The Scottish giants are willing to loan out the 19-year-old, who recently had a trial at Dutch side De Graafschap.
Rangers have given McCausland the green light to go out on a season-long loan in a deal that would include a January break clause.
Doncaster Rovers lead the race for the starlet but now face competition from League Two rivals Rochdale.
Both clubs have registered their interest in taking McCausland for the campaign.
The wide man has two years remaining on his deal at Ibrox.
He put pen to paper on a contract extension September of last year.
McCausland featured predominantly for Rangers B in the 2021-22 campaign.
However, the Northern Ireland youth international made his first-team debut in the final game of last season against Hearts.
He played 29 minutes of the Gers’ 3-1 win over the Edinburgh club and provided an assist for their third goal.
In pre-season, McCausland scored for Rangers B in a friendly against Elgin City and featured in a 6-3 defeat to Glentoran as well.
His immediate future now appears to be away from Ibrox.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made significant changes to his squad this summer.

Ben Davies, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and Antonio Colak have all arrived in multi-million pound deals.
Tom Lawrence and John Souttar have joined on free transfers, while Malik Tilman has signed on loan from Bayern Munich.
