Sources: Roma in pole position to sign Chelsea star Charly Musonda after major development
Roma are in pole position to sign Chelsea attacking midfielder Charly Musonda, Football Insider understands.
The 25-year-old has been told by the European champions he will not be offered a new contract and is free to go when his current deal expires this summer.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is keen to lure Musonda to Rome in the upcoming window.

The Portuguese is a big admirer of the former Celtic loanee and believes he has the potential to make an impact in Italy.
Musonda is out of the picture at Stamford Bridge and has not played for the Blues since January 2018.
A versatile forward who can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder, he joined Chelsea’s youth ranks from Anderlecht in 2012.
However, the former Belgium under-21 star has spent much of his senior career out on loan.
He has been shipped out to Real Betis, Celtic and Vitesse Arnhem over the years.
Musonda played eight times for the Bhoys during the second half of the 2017/18 season.
He helped the Glasgow giants win both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup.
The attacker then joined Vitesse Arnhem for the 2018/19 campaign but a knee injury limited him to just one appearance.
He rejoined the Dutch outfit for another season-long loan in 2019.
However, he was forced to undergo surgery on his knee after just three games.
The injury meant Musonda missed the entirety of the 2020/21 campaign.
Musonda returned to playing earlier this season and has made two appearances for Chelsea’s under-23 side.
He confirmed he would become a free agent via his personal Instagram account in November.
