Sources: Ruben Loftus-Cheek told he’s free to complete Chelsea move after green light

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to leave Chelsea this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

New boss Mauricio Pochettino has green lit Loftus-Cheek’s exit in what could be the first sale of his reign as manager.

Italian side AC Milan are pushing for a deal and have held talks with the 27-year-old but no deal has been offered as yet.

The midfielder has been told he’s free to find a new club as the Blues look to trim down their massive squad ahead of a new era under Pochettino.

Loftus-Cheek‘s current contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2024 and includes the option of a further year.

The centre-mid has started 19 of the 25 Premier League games he has featured in over the course of a disappointing season for the Blues.

On 28 March, Football Insider revealed that Chelsea were preparing to make Loftus-Cheek available for transfer at the end of the season and are not keen to activate the 12-month clause in his contract.

Last week (23 May), this site revealed that AC Milan have opened preliminary talks with the London club have have made the midfielder a key target for the upcoming window.

Chelsea

Milan have been long-term admirers of the former England international and enquired about his availability last summer, albeit they did not move forward in negotiations.

This summer Loftus-Cheek could be heading for an exit as Chelsea seek to balance their books for Financial Fair Play regulations and make room for Pochettino’s targets.
