Sources: Tottenham ready to sell Richarlison and sign defender in January

Tottenham are prepared to sell Richarlison in the January transfer window and use the funds to sign a new defender, sources have told Football Insider.

Senior figures at Spurs are ready to cash in on the 26-year-old if a big-money offer is received from the Saudi Pro League.

As revealed by Football Insider on Friday (8 December), Tottenham have made a U-turn on Richarlison’s future and are now willing to accept offers for him next month.

The Brazil international has struggled since completing a £60million move to North London from Everton in 2022.

He has scored five goals and registered seven assists in 48 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions since completing his big-money move.

A well-placed source previously told Football Insider that Richarlison’s Tottenham move “hasn’t worked out for all parties”.

With the Saudi Pro League now offering Tottenham a chance to sever their ties with Richarlison, they are increasingly likely to accept an offer and use the raised funds to sign a new centre-back.

Following injuries to both Eric Dier and Micky van de Ven in recent weeks, Ange Postecoglou has been left short of options in defence.

Football Insider revealed that Spurs are in a race with Man United for £40million-rated Jean-Clair Todibo.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has also been linked with a move to North London, however, the Toffees are reluctant to let him leave in January.
